The 1970s saw a variety of hairstyles in its time. One of the most iconic styles of which would have to be the feathered hairstyle. The curled layers presented an almost bird feather like style and became largely known itself as ‘The Farrah’. This was the hairstyle of actress and singer Farrah Fawcett in the 70s who is best known for her role in the 70s hit show Charlie’s Angels and her later films include The Apostle and Extremities.
The 80s bore the age of the Perm. The hair itself was teased and permed to create an exaggerated look. Celebrities such as Kylie Minogue sported the Perm style during her role as Charlene Robinson in Neighbours which took Australia and the world by storm.
One of the most iconic hairstyles in the 90s came from Jennifer Anniston’s depiction of Rachel from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The style itself was long with all over layers which gave your hair movement and fullness on top. Highlights were also prominent in the hairstyle which swept the world in the late 90s and it gave women who wore it real volume at the crown.
The 00s saw a variety of hairstyles. One of which that became widely popular across the nation was the graduated bob. Victoria Beckham herself had her own style which became known as the ‘Posh Bob’ or ‘Pob’. The ‘Pob’ is a classic style but with a modern twist which became very popular amongst celebrities such as Rihanna and Victoria’s good friend Katie Holmes. The style gave ladies hair texture and movement and was suited best to those with finer hair.
The hairstyles of this decade so far have seen an array of different styles. From long wavy hair to the shaved hair, there is yet a clear cut popular hairstyle amongst the women of the world today. Long and wavy styles have been sported by women such as Beyonce and the shorter styled hair has been sported by stars such as Miley Cyrus and Jessie J. The decade is still young which could mean by 2020 we could see a particular hairstyle out shine the rest.
